The next morning, the injured, were quietly loaded in a cart, covered by a tarp. It was barely after sunrise, and the small city, was still sleeping. Attar, was already sitting up, but Selene insisted, he stay put. Cesar was still in a coma, while Alex, was very shocked, at the sight of Pandora, sleeping beside his bed. Although he was alive, the damage done to his legs and arm, was irreversible. Or so he thought. That morning, he woke up, to a very strange conversation.
Phil: “Are you sure, you can heal them?”
Attar: “Positive!”
Phil: “How? Why?”
Attar: “The same way, you were healed.”
Phil: “How do you know, how I was healed? How do you even know, I was healed?”
Attar: “Your rings. Through them, we were keeping an eye on you 4. But only your location, and general health. When you got injured, your heartbeats were steadily slowing down. When they stopped...”
Attar was sitting on the bed, cuddling Selene, who was still sleeping in his arms. As he remembered the moment, when the monitor showed their lights, turning off, he held onto her tighter.
Phil: “They didn't stop. The Thugs took our rings, leaving us for dead.”
Attar: “How did they even manage, to get close enough, to you?”
Phil: “In the most ridiculous way possible. They shot a barrage of arrows at us. In avoiding them, Cesar slipped on a puddle of mud, and hit his head. Which in turn, distracted Alex, as he got shot. I too was distracted, and didn't even see the arrow, headed straight towards me. Sister however, did. In the spur of the moment, she tried blocking it, with her body. The arrow pierced her through the chest, and went into me. That's when we lost consciousness. That's probably when, the Thugs took our rings.”
Attar: “I see.”
Phil: “Next thing I know, I woke up, with sister on top of me. As she stood up,an arrow through her, my own wound, began to close. I pulled the arrow out, and her own wound closed up, leaving a scar. However, that scar is gone now. Afterwards, we heard noises, and managed to drag our brothers, in the near by bushes. The next morning, a caravan passed by, and the people helped us, giving us a safe space here, in this house.
Attar: “We too, met a caravan, and found your swords. But no luck with the rings.”
Selene: “They are probably still with the leader of the Thugs. By the way dear, you still haven't explained, how you are so sure, that Phil and I, are alive, and not a walking corpse. Hm?”
Attar gently kissed her, on the forehead.
Attar: “All in due time. If my theory is correct, not only are you living, but we CAN heal your brothers. But we can't do it here. There are too many prying eyes.”
Selene: “Where, then?”
Attar: “You'll see.”
Not half an hour later, the injured, were already loaded in the cart. Selene stayed by Attar's side, who refused to let go of her. Phil was driving, and the sisters were riding around, in a formation. Castor & Pollux, were in the lead.
A day later, near sunset, they came across Balaur, who was waiting for them, near the cave entrance.
Balaur: “Hi everyone!”
Attar jumped out o the cart, leaving behind Selene and Phil, in shock. With a lightning speed, Attar got in front of Balaur, his fist knocking down, his nephew.
Attar: “Why?”
Balaur: “I have my reasons.”
Attar: “You could have told me. She wouldn't have had to suffer.”
Balaur: “No, she had to. In order for her to have a choice, she had to sustain that wound. I certainly couldn't hurt her. And neither can you. Even still, their encounter with the Thugs, was still a gamble.”
Attar: “You mean, you didn't set up the attack? Then what are you doing here, nephew?”
Balaur stood up from the ground.
Balaur: “I come bearing gifts! I believe these are yours auntie, uncle!”
In his hand, he held the very same rings, the Thugs had stolen from the siblings.
Balaur: “And with that, the last of the Thugs are gone. I also brought supplies. Enough, for around 200 years. Not a day sooner! Understand? Uncle!?”
Attar: “Yes, yes. Are you staying with us?”
Balaur: “No. My job is out here. Besides, you are about to become so busy, that you won't even notice, the time passing.”
Attar: “Thanks. And... See you soon!”
Attar hugged Balaur, then turned around.
Attar: “What is it dear? Why the face?”
Phil: “You, you are standing. Walking!”
Attar: “I told you, I would be all right. Didn't I? Now, put these on, let's go inside, and heal your brother. Shall we?”
