There was darkness, there was pain all over her body, the only thing she was feeling was pain. At one point she got too scared of the darkness. She opened her eyes, at first everything was cloudy and fuzzy then she started to discern light and color. She was in a bright white room, laying down on a bed. Tube where attached to her arm, and a small Grey box was emitting a steady bip. She didn't recognize anything around her.
She was feeling uncomfortable, she knew she screw up, and that she wasn't home. She freaked out, violently snatching the tube away, making her arm bleed a little. Upon seeing the sharp and thin metal piece that was under her skin she shivered before throwing it away from her with disgust. She got up, going slowly toward the door, there was people in the corridor, some woman and men in all white and injured or sick people in a light blue gown like the one she was wearing. She hides in the room, her back on the wall, she was scared, so scared, she wished her dragon was with her, but she didn't know what happened to him. She walks toward the window, looking through it, she saw a city, a big and loud City full of smokes and light. She got more scared upon seeing the huge vehicles going back and forth in the street. She sat on the cold tiles of the floor looking at her hand. Focusing on it like she always does, she was feeling them, every bit of them, but when she whispers her spell, she realised she couldn't make her light ball. She tries again and again, she was only able to have a little spark not strong enough to morph or float and who was disappearing quickly.
She was frustrated, and then she realised, she remembers what her grandmother told her, she was on a place without any magic, she was on earth. She was sobbing her hands on her mouth trying not to make a sound. How could she end up here? Then she remembered the spell; she had seen it on a book. She didn't know, how can she? She just acted upon the urgency of the situation she was in, she just wanted to save her life, and then she ended up there. She started crying harder, wondering how she will go home now. There was no magic; she can only feel a little bit of it, and not having this rush that she usually has in Arcadia was making her anxious, she had the feeling that she was dying, that she was suffocating. There was no way she could redo the spell, she was stuck here. And then she though of her grandmother, of her father, both of them already lost someone because of the forbidden zone and now they were loosing her. She couldn't help herself but cry, again, and again. She was so stupid, she should have listened to the grown up who were warning her, but she had to be stubborn, look where she is now. After five minutes of crying, she takes a deep breath, drying her tear, she couldn't give up now. This world was once part of Arcadia, her grandmother had a friend here, maybe if she finds him she could ask for help. Yeah, she can do that; she didn't have any other plan anyway, she was just hoping he was still alive. First of all she had to get out of there. She looked at the door, going toward it slowly, she sighed before taking a deep breath. Then she steps outside, playing the innocent little girl who was just walking in the corridor. She was doing her best not to attract the attention of the woman in white, when she came across a door, she quickly runs through it before anyone ask her anything. Before her was now a bunch of dark stairs going toward the roof and down. Going on the roof was a really dumb idea, so, she got down, she walked for like an eternity before reaching a dark basement full of vehicles. She spotted the way out, it was a bright light entry. She breathes in, and start running toward it as fast as she could. When she reached it, she could finally be on the light.
She finally steps outside, longing the wall. People were passing by her not even looking at her. There were so many of them, the shear view of all this people was making her dizzy. She starts walking slowly, observing all around her, all was so different, the building where dark and tall, the cloud was grey, everything was inspiring her two things: sadness and despair. She couldn't help but to shiver, it was the opposite of Arcadia, there everything was colorful, everything was full of color, of joy, of life. Here it's like the shadow of death prevents people to feel alive. She Felt Pity for them, so that was what a world without magic look like, upon seeing this she whishes she could go home right away, and not spend the rest of her Life here. She wandered around for a long while, she ended up in a park, it was now night time. She was looking at the moon, somehow even that wasn't the same. The cheerful moon she used to look at, was now a gloomy light looking at her. She was shivering, and she sighs. How will she finds the friend of her grandmother, this world could be big, he could be dead for all she now. She sighs again, bringing her knees against her chest. The cold was penetrating her bones, she wish she could make a little fire right now.
Then she Heard a sound, in the distance seeing four men coming toward her. They were looking at her with great interest; she shivered, goosebump creeping all over her. They were surrounding her. She wasn't comfortable at all, They reeks of alcohol and their gaze where not friendly at all. She wanted to run away, but she was caught by one of them, she screamed to let her go, but They were just laughing at her. She started crying, she was never that scared before, she though she was going to die or worse. When one of the men tries to kiss her, she finally sees her dragon. He flies at the men, messing his face with the claw of his six legs. He screamed, stumbling backward while the dragon was landing on the shoulder of his master. He was snarling, the men where scared and surprise looking at their friend rivering in pain while his face was slice like a piece of meat. She was trembling, she knows she couldn't outrun them, she didn't know what to do, if she could use her magic, it could be much easier. Suddenly a voice raise from a distance, a boy was coming toward them.
«What is going on here?» The men just retreat leaving their injured comrade crawling on the ground on it's own. When They disappear behind a bunch of bushes, the boy looks at her. He was around her age. He seems nice, but she was still scared. «Are you ok?» he made a step backward upon seeing the dragon, but was not scared, no he was impressed? Curious? She couldn't tell, but their wasn't any fear in him. « did They Hurt you?» she shakes her head. « good, how come you're out so late? It's dangerous, do you want me to take you back home? » At that, she just starts crying heavily. She wanted to go home, but this boy couldn't bring her back. He was at a lost, not understanding what was making her cry.
«Alech!» Screams a voice.
«Grandfather, I think I have a problem, can you come over?»
«What did you do again, silly boy?» The old man came over, when he sees the creature, and the Young girl crying, he just let his cane fall. «It's impossible,» he mutters.«you can't be, this can't be. We were severed... »
«Grandfather, is something wrong?»
«We are bringing this girl back at home with us.»
«What? But her family? »
«Trust me, her family is not near by. »
She looks at the old man. Her eyes full of tears, «help me please.» She pleaded.
***
«Are you insane father?! Why did you bring back this runaway girl home? » «She's right father in law, who know where this girl came from, look at her look like she escapes from a hospital.» The old man was listening to her daughter and her husband ramble about the girl for hours now, and he was starting to get sick of it. He hit his cane violently on the ground, making everyone shut up.
« I'm in my house, i can do whatever i want, and if i fancy the idea to bring a young girl in my home, it's my right. None of you have any right to say otherwise. »
«But father, we are worried about...»
«You are only worried about your inheritance! And I already told you that Alech is going to inherit, not you or your useless husband! Now I want you out of here!! Except Alech! »
The man and woman frown before obeying. When the old man finally got rides off them, he got up with the help of the boy. He walks slowly until he reaches a room dimly lit where she was sleeping.
«How is she?» He asked.
«Tired, she had fallen asleep as soon as she lay down.»
«And her creature?»
«It's hiding somewhere in the room. It's only get out if we got near her. Can you tell me what all of this is about grandfather? »
The old man step inside, his presence forced the dragon to hop on the bed hissing to protect his master.
«Be careful grandfather.»
He stopped centimeter away from them. He was watching them with regret.
«I never though one of them will be back here one day.»
«What do you mean?»
The boy approached carefully, he was a bit scared of the beast snarling with smoke coming out of his nostrils.
«Do you remember son, the story I used to tell you when you were young?»
«Hmmm, yes, but they were only fairytale isn't it?»
«No they weren't, everything was true, and this young lady and her little friend, are from there.»
«Didnt't you tell me that this world was sealed off forever?»
«It was, I don't know how she end up here. We have to wait until she wakes up to have more information. »
Both of them got out of the room, leaving the unfortunate girl to rest.
She woke up when the first ray of sunshine fell on her face, she was in a room richly decorated, the opposite of the first room she waked up in. She smiled while petting her dragon, glad he was here with her. She gets up and walks toward the door, when she opened it, the boy was just outside ready to knock. They both made a step backward obviously caught off guard.
The dragon flew toward his master like always landing on her shoulder snarling. The boy was keeping his distance, thinking that as long as he doesn't threaten them he wouldn't be attack.
«I came to see if you were awake, sorry if I startled you.»
She was obviously scared, he didn't know what to do until his grandfather appeared.
«Haaaa!!» he exclaimed, «young lady you are finally awake!» She steps backward again. «Don't worry, I'm here to help you, not hurt you. Now can you tell us your name? »
She hesitated, but the smiled of the old man had something southing, something making her think of her grandmother.
«My name is Lailyah.»
«Are you by any chance part of the royal family of Arcadia?»
She looked at him perplexed. « Well, yes. I'm the princess, but...»
«So you really are Jaynah descendant, isn't it?»
«Yeah, she is my grandma. Why? »
«Well you look like her when she was young.»
«Are you the friend she told me about?»
«She talks about me?»
«Well I asked her about earth once, and she mentioned you. Please, I need your help. »
«I know, your presence here is really not a good sign. But we are going to get you cleaned up and Fed before discussing serious matter if you don't mind. »
Like on cue, her stomach started rumbling causing her to blush. She could only agree with the old man.
A shower, a change of clothes, and a meal later, she was facing the old man and the boy.
«My name is Kinlas and this is my grand son Alech. Tell me princess, how did you end up here? »
« I was trying to escape a giant in the forbidden zone, and i cast a spell i had seen in a book, i was thinking it was a transportation spell, it didn't occur to me that it was in fact a dimensional spell. I don't know why here specifically, but here i am, and I can't go back because there is not enough magic here for me to cast the spell again. »
«I see. Can you show me what you did when you cast it? »
«I drew some sort of invocation circle...» he gives her a piece of paper and a pen. She drew the form on it and hands it over to the old man. His face got pale upon seeing what she had drawn. He passes his hand on his face clearly chocked.
«Do you know what you had cast?»
«No I don't.»
«This was the spell used to exiled Arcadia, it's lacking some elements, but i recognize it anywhere.»
«Do you mean that I exiled myself out of Arcadia? Does that mean that i will never go back? »
Tears were threatening to fall off her eyes, she was in so much despair, she didn't know what to do.
«I'm not a caster, and those who tried are weak, but I'll do my best to help you go back home, ok? I don't want the granddaughter of my best friend to suffer here. It's not a good kind of life. For now you can consider this house yours. I'll take care of you and your little friend don't worry. Maybe you can be friend with Alech too, he doesn't have many of those. »
«Grand father!!»
The man chuckles, Lailyah smiled thinking she could be safe here until she figures out how to get home.
