February Friday 21st. Go past Big W today and they have anti-bacterial hand wash 3 x 1ltr on special, so I buy some. They also have hand sanitiser on special so I buy two. I return to the shops to buy long life milk because over night I started really thinking about what I might need if we can’t leave the house. I also buy tins of Tuna, extra meat, stock for soup, potatoes and frozen veggies. Also I get sweet biscuits as the family will spit chips if I didn’t at least get something ‘good’ to eat.
I don’t know at what point I start watching the John Hopkins stats online but I would soon become obsess with them. I’m spending hours online looking for news and it’s now consumed me. And I realise I'm not the only one. Hubby has been watching the news for weeks and he’s extremely concerned. He suggests we review what stocks we have and get more if needed.
February Sunday 22nd. Another trip to the shops and we have enough stocks should we go into lock down for 14 days. I’m concerned that if one of us gets the virus we might be at home for longer than 14 days but we decide to play it by ear. We can get food delivered if we need it. Kids aren’t taking it seriously at all. Both Ra and J are nail biters and we can’t stress enough about washing their hand properly. Ra is back at Uni and J is at high school.
Over the next few days we only go out if needed and as we are a family that generally keep to the home, self isolating ourselves was working well. And then by the end of the month panic sets in nation wide and we now have a toilet paper shortage.
