The LaFerrari Aperta was more than just a vehicle.
It was a limited edition beast of power; it can easily surpass 217 miles per hour and accelerate to 124 miles in less than seven seconds. Its speed and power were evident when one gazed in awe upon its bright red Spyder chassis. It's V12 engine announced itself on Dante Island with a roar before it's brakes unleashing a harsh screech as it stopped just before the Manor steps. The thunderous sound of its arrival caused the valets to jump back in shock, tripping over themselves to avoid not just near death, but also the possibility of their corpses leaving dents onto the super beast.
There was only one person who could tame this beast; only one person who could match the violent red styling of the convertible coupe.
Edward gritted his teeth, his eyes narrowed into a glare as he stomped down the steps to confront the one person who would simply BUY this admittedly stunning masterpiece of automobile construction. He clenched his fists, his arms firmly to his side as the doors opened, then rotated, to reveal a grinning Ira, eyes hidden behind large sunglasses, her hand stroking the wheel of the beast she has conquered.
She tilted her head towards him, trying to keep her chuckle as that wrinkled visage began to turn a lovely shade of crimson that matched her new car, "Isn't she beautiful? I saw this today, and I figured…why not? I needed to spoil myself."
"With…a FERRARI?!" His voice finally erupted, one hand moving to hit his forehead, fingers massaging the skin as his head began to throb.
Ira laughed, lifting herself from the embrace of the super car, stepping out of its luxurious interior, "This is not just any Ferrari. This is simply perfection, a perfect fit." She moved her sunglasses up against her hair, revealing her bright fiery eyes as she admired her new mechanical pet.
She bit her lip, her hand running against the metal, her eyes sparkling as it wasn't just the car she was thinking about, "It's perfect for me, and now it's all mine."
"DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THIS CAR COSTS?!"
That was an important question. That was the question that Edward wanted to know.
Ira blinked, standing up fully; her plastic prosthetic hand on her hip, her right hand scratching her hair as her eyes rolled up as if trying to solve an equation. After a few moments, she shrugged, "Nope. I had no idea. I suppose there were quite a few zeroes I had to write on the check."
Edward stepped back, one hand moving to clutch his chest, his brow furrowed deeply as he seemed to visibly age, "Well I saw this enormous waste of money as soon as it popped up and I hope you have a good reason, or ANY reason, for why you had to have this car!"
Ira's eyes narrowed and her right hand to her side, "I don't believe that I have to justify anything to you."
Edward took a long deep breath, "Lady Dante, after the trouble we have been having-"
"Minimal trouble."
"You haven't been paying attention! Another one of our allies has been hit at the docks, this time causing a delay on our weapon shipments! Thanks to our nuisances."
Ira raised an eyebrow, "Those 'angels' again…have we lost much?"
He clenched his teeth again, hissing out, "No, but a purchase like THIS doesn't help. Not when our partners are starting to tighten their belts! We have other cars, other beautiful, impeccable cars that you and Cana have yet to demolish. Why did you feel the need to buy THIS one?!" He took another breath, trying to calm down and loosen the tension from his shoulders, "Please, just soothe my curiosity."
Ira narrowed her eyes, thinking about his words. Had she been so distracted? She looked back to the car, the sight of it calming her nerves, "It was red. I didn't know they came in red."
"…" He looked down at the car, back to Ira, back to the car. He clenched his teeth, his shoulders hunched; if steam could come from his ears, it would. "…Red…that is all you are going to say? It. Was. RED?!"
Ira bit her lip as she released another snort. "And sexy!"
Edward lifting up a finger to point at her chest, his lips parted to unleash such a scolding-
"A new car for a hot date. Right, Boss?" A low and gruff voice interrupted.
Ira froze, her smirk vanishing from her face. Her face turned into stone as she listened to the calm, careful footsteps of black loafers coming towards them.
Edward turned to look over to look into the violet eyes of the new arrival, "Darrion! What did you say?"
Darrion scoffed, one hand moving to brush a stray blonde bang from his eyes, as he fixed Ira with his steely purple gaze, "She has a date tonight. With the same boy that she's been seeing for over a month. Been too busy with him instead of helping with our vigilante problem?"
Blood red eyes turned to meet that amethyst gaze, her lips twitching, "You have been spying on me. I know Sybil didn't tell you."
Darrion walked until he was side by side with her, a bitter smirk on his face, "You call our men to clean up a mess you made at some dump and pick up some two-bit nobody to keep in our cells. You then called me about a brutal murder with that nobody as a prime suspect who yammered about some boy who cut up his eye." He deliberately turned to face her, "The same boy who gave me his statement describing the same nobody in our cells. I'm not a fucking idiot, Ira."
Those eyes narrowed into furious slits, her teeth bared, "Call him a boy one more time. Please. Test me."
He was facing the hell in her eyes as tension rose between them. He felt a heavy weight pressing down on his shoulders; a drop of sweat to traveling down his cheek.
However, he wasn't the one who poured gasoline into the blaze.
