Nightfall.
We set up our camp offroad to avoid the silent road - it seemed quiet scary at night. We didn't saw any kinds of mortals for days, and the last ones were a bunch of sellswords - grumpy vargs and an alb. They looked at us like eagles at rabbits - desperate and hungry, but keeping their distance, waiting for the right moment.
Since that encounter, we had basically been in a hurry to reach Eisenbrann. It would still take some days to reach the mountain pass, but we made much progress. The weather played along, too. Even the nights were more bright than dark - the moons and torchbugs illuminated our path. A very celestial sight.
I lived like in a dream. Everything was so unreal - the colors, the environment, my body, my emotions. I did not want to be woken up, because it was just fascinating.
Watching the torchbugs, I heard a crackle. Our camp was situated in an old ruin - at first, I thought that Kamurea scratched a wall. But she just looked as alarmed as me. Vi was in a deep slumber, but the sound didn't come from her direction. It was behind me.
As I turned my head to examine the wall behind me, a blinding light errupted from the center of the ruins, and the bricks moved. Kamurea shouted something, but I did not understand what - my full attention was on that light, as the ruin rebuilt itself.
Vi had jumped up and made a dash towards me. Kamurea had her weapon prepared. I just could not move an inch.
The ruin had been a tomb.
