P.O.V. AMYLI
Okay, strange. Since last month after the much disappointing area 51 raid, a lot of weird shit has been happening. I'm not even sure if they got into the base anyway, but rumor has it that one naruto-running soldier of the raid got in and freed the majority of the aliens, and then got taken by the government because he saw too much.
Honestly, I've never been the type to believe in rumors. Or aliens and supernatural activity. Both in the same context is a definite no-no. But my opinion has certainly changed over the last few weeks. Let me take you back to September 20th, 2019- the day of the raid.
* * *
I was in school at that time. It was a Friday, so of course I was just waiting for the day to be over. I was mostly looking forward to hanging out with my friends after school, so I tried my best not to fall asleep during first period.
“Apparently there's already 2,000 people there.” Alissa whispered to me across the table. It took me a second to realize that she was talking about the raid, and I just snorted as I crossed my arms and leaned back in my chair. She frowned and turned back around to listen to Mr. Poline drag on about rocks.
A part of me wondered if aliens could actually exist. I never really believed so, but my curiosity and overly imaginative mind always loved the idea of the supernatural. Something about the weirdness and coincidence made me feel like I was in a movie, waiting for something else crazy or tragic to happen that only I knew about.
The bell rang and I headed over to art.
I was supposed to be drawing shapes, but my mind was still set on questioning the statistics of the raid. “Who is there?” And “What if they actually find aliens?” were keeping my mind busy as I imagined all the different outcomes and doodled Elmo raising hell.
I finally got through the rest of the day and had a good time with my friends. I got home and sat down to do homework at my desk, which is something I don't usually do until the last day it's due. My older brother Rein noticed and teased me, “Amyli, have the aliens already got to you? Are you like POSSESSED or something?” I rolled my eyes and he walked away, laughing, to raid the fridge.
Even though I was only 13, my mom let me have a lot of freedom. She had already set boundaries and experimented with my brother, so I was lucky enough to have privileges at an early age.
I went for a walk in the dark. I liked the peace and quiet, it helped me think and clear my thoughts. It was about 8 at night, and my curfew was 10:30 since it wasn't a weeknight. After about 15 minutes of walking and a bottle of coke, I decided to go to the park and sit on a bench to watch geese sleep. It had become a habit of mine, and it was fine as long as you didn't wake the geese up. If you did, they would chase you down and make you bleed.
I had picked up a muffin from the deli I got my coke from, but decided I wasn't hungry, so I pieced it apart and threw it from my spot on the bench at the few geese that were awake. They graciously took the pieces and went for a swim as they ate it, all except for one who just stood there with it's back to me. I didn't think much of it, so I put one of my earbuds in and listened to music.
After about ten minutes I was starting to get worried. The goose hadn't moved at all, and I was starting to wonder if it was a statue of some sort. Even the other geese noticed, and as they came back from their swim they avoided it.
Being the curious person I was, I slowly got up from the bench as not to startle it. I set my phone down and crept around to see what was wrong. As soon as i saw, i gasped loudly, which caused the goose to abruptly turn its head 90 degrees in my direction. I stared in disbelief and started backing up as the goose began advancing towards me.
The goose had no eyes.
