I stared at the person in confusion, “I’ve always known I was different… For the longest time I thought of it as more of a curse than being special…”
The person pulled off their hood and mask. He was rather attractive with messy brown hair, soft green eyes, and fair skin. He offered a gentle smile and held out his hand. A symbol slowly appeared over his hand. It was a rose with the letters CG sketched into the petals.
I slowly stood up, staring at the flower, “You’re… like me?”
“There are a lot of people like you, Miss Percy.”
“How… did you know my name?”
“Well, my higher ups have had a few older guard members following you since you created that giant robot spider. They haven’t seen anyone capable of something that big in a long time.”
“That was years ago… I’ve been in a mental hospital for 7 years, well… in and out of it.”
“Percy, no one of our kind has managed the things you’ve done. At the hospital, those two butterflies, you made them into crystals with a simple touch. For most of us, that takes years to accomplish.”
“Why did you come here then? It must be important.”
“Well, at the age of 20, unless you are born into Crimson Guard, we at sent to bring people to our base. Today is your summoning.”
“That's… I… I don’t even know your name. I don’t even know what I am. How could I possibly go with you?”
The young man sighed softly and nodded a little, “If you must know, my name is Lukas Weitz and I’m 22, born into Crimson Guard. I’ll explain what CG is on the way there,” he extended his hand toward me, “If you’ll come with me?”
I looked around my room slowly, weighing my options. Then a thought popped into my head, “What about… what about my parents?”
“They will be notified. After CG started following you around, the director at the time talked to your parents about this already.”
Nodding slowly, I took a deep breath, “Well… I’ll need to pack some clothes… but a life that doesn’t make me feel like I have a curse would be nice.”
“So…” Lukas purred with a smile.
“I’ll go. Just… let me pack.”
