Crow looked Adell in the eye cautiously. Just how much does this guy know about the gods anyway? He answered slowly, “I guess. He should be okay in a few days then.”
“Then that's what we'll give him,” Adell said, straightening up.
“Til what?” Crow asked, thinning his eyes.
“Until we announce his official acceptance of the throne.” Adell replied. “The banquet and ball Rhys is having in a couple of days is the perfect opportunity for it.”
“You're a deaf moron.” Crow rolled his eyes. “Will doesn't want to be king.”
“At the moment, no. But in a few days, probably.”
Crow shook his head, glaring at him. “You're going to force him into it then.”
“If that's what it takes,” Adell nodded. “He can't laze about forever. Being lost and idle is for childhood, and he is not a child.”
Crow stood up, raising his voice to Adell. “Will is not lost!” He instantly quieted his voice when he noticed Will's blue eyes dart over to him while the doctor was checking his ability to squeeze his fingers. “Pushing him into becoming king is about the cruelest thing you could do to him.”
Adell lifted his chin, looking down at Crow over his nose. “Clearly you're forgetting your father's pushing you into becoming a fine knight. And what are you today?” He didn't even give pause for Crow to answer before answering himself, “A knight.”
Crow grit his teeth, continuing to glare at Adell as the Grand Duke nodded to him with finality and walked over to Will and the doctor.
“He seems to have a concussion. He should be fine within a few days.” said the doctor to Adell as he stood up. “Make sure you drink a lot of water and don't push yourself reading or anything that takes too much focus.” Will nodded a bit, his body language demure and muted.
The doctor nodded to Will, then to Adell, and the two of them left out of the room. As soon as they were gone, Crow instantly slid himself so he was sitting on the armrest of Will's chair. “You feel okay?”
“Yes.” Will nodded. “Just a bit of a headache.” He clarified. Crow sighed, relaxing his shoulders. Will peered up at him for a moment before asking softly, “Adell won't drop it, will he?”
Crow looked away a bit, not sure how to answer. Will waited as Crow sighed and let out a slow breath. “He thinks being king would be best for you.”
“Mm.” Will mused a bit, leaning back in the chair. Crow turned his head to look at him, just in time to see Will's eyes fall shut. “After a bit, I'll ask if Rhys has a place in mind for me to get away from Adell at.”
“He wants to say you'll be king in a few days at some banquet.” Crow commented.
Will opened his eyes to look up at Crow, his brow furrowing a bit, but he was so sluggish, it didn't look like much movement happened. “It is a perfect time for it.” He paused, then rolled his head to look out of the window away from Crow. “I might become king just because I'm too afraid to move out of this house.”
Crow chuckled, “Is that what's stopping you? You can come stay with me as much as you want.”
