Meanwhile, Mira sprinted his way three miles before finally spotting Shane fixing up an old bicycle.
"Shane!"
Shane jumped a bit, turning around. "Mira?"
Mira ran up to him, gasping for breath. He held up his arm to signal Shane to wait until the blond caught his breath. After a moment, Mira straightened up.
"You... left... Why?"
Shane grumbled, standing up as he finished working on the bike. "No big reason. It's just that now Yoru's awake again."
Mira frowned. "Yoru...?"
He nodded. "We're twins."
"You don't look a lot alike."
"We're fraternal."
Mira blinked, breathing returning to normal. "Do you... two not get along?"
Shane continued going about cleaning the bike up as he spoke. "We get along I suppose, if you mean can we live together without killing each other. But really, we don't like each other is the problem."
"Why not?" Mira frowned.
Shane sighed, straightening up. "Our mom couldn't handle two sons. Neither could our dad. I got the constant nanny, was seperated from him a lot, and when I got old enough I was sent off to a boarding school."
"So... You just don't know each other well?"
"No. I hate him." Shane clarified bluntly.
"Oh..." Mira looked down. "But... Alice said you left cause..."
"Of you?"
"Yeah."
Shane didn't look up to the blond. "Don't get big-headed."
"Huh?"
Shane stopped moving, seeming to be thinking. When he looked up, he looked pretty pissed off. "I wouldn't leave just because of some annoying pest. Stop bothering me now."
Mira stood there, completely stupified, as Shane got on the bicycle and rode it away.
A short while later, Mira was sitting next to Geno at an Inn.
Yoru came up with some water. "Want some?"
"No." Mira answered softly.
"Where'd Shane slip off to?"
"Dunno."
"Why not?"
"He said I should stop annoying him."
Yoru chuckled. "That it? I see his problem."
"Huh?" Mira looked over to Yoru.
"Your words get to him. He listens to you, and cares about you." Yoru chuckled. "That's why he's running away from you."
"I don't get it." Mira frowned. "If he cares, then why's he running away?"
He shrugged. "Shane's always ran from people he cares about. He doesn't know how to be around people openly."
"Is he nervous then?"
"Shy." Yoru corrected. "Shy. And socially stupid. He is smart and knows how to act around me and business people- usually either logically or in rash anger. But for the run-of-the-mill person, or someone he cares about, he doesn't know how to deal with it. So he runs."
"He runs from anything he doesn't understand..."
"Yeah." Yoru nodded. "He's been like that since we were little. I was too, for a bit. But I learned how to deal with people better than him from the beginning."
Mira nodded a bit, sighing. "I guess then..."
"Mira. Did he ever say he didn't care about you?"
Mira thought a moment then shook his head. "No. He just said I annoyed him."
"There you go." Yoru smiled.
