Starring out at the black sky filled with glowing stars, all Shane could do was sit in silence. Just watching.
"Shane?" Alice called, walking over to him. "It's not like you to be here at the observatory. Hiding from Mira again?"
"No." Shane answered, not moving his gaze from the stars. "He's off trying to fix the oven."
Alice sat next to him, looking at the stars. "Shane."
"Hm?"
"Do you think we'll make it back in time?"
"Before the air runs out?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah. The generator's fixed and all. Give it a few more hours to warm up, and we should be able to jump to Earth easily."
"Shane?"
"Yeah?"
"How long have you known Mira?"
"Met him when we came up here."
"How do you put up with his..."
"Wailing?"
Alice nodded, not wanting to really insult Mira.
Shane shrugged, slouching down. "I just think he just... likes me a lot. How long have you known him?"
"Longer than you." Alice answered. "I know him well enough to know that he doesn't wail to people he doesn't like."
"Oh?" Shane asked, uninterested.
"Shane."
"What?"
"He really likes you."
Shane turned and looked to her. "Alice. He's just... Maybe a friend."
Alice sighed looking to the brunette. "You don't get it. Mira doesn't glom on to people. He's usually shy."
"Then why does he cling on me and stuff all the time? That's not shy."
Alice shrugged, "Maybe you remind him of his brother."
"Brother?"
She nodded. "You know, in the human pods of the people sleeping on board. Mira's older brother's in one. He spends his nights there next to him."
