Justin always covered his right eye with his hair, even as he entered the seventh grade. Him and Raven only had one class together, but at lunch they’d run around and race again. They didn’t wanna hide anymore. However, they drew more attention to themselves and soon rumors of them dating started to go around. Justin and Raven were hanging out at a skatepark one day and they sat down for a bit.
“Do you ever think about those rumors?”, Raven sat down on the curb. “What rumors?”, Justin joined her. “The ones about us dating? People always ask if we’re dating.”, Raven turned to look at him. “Oh… You meant those rumors.”, He scratched the back of his neck. “Yep!”, She nodded, “You ever think about it?” Justin shrugged, “Not really.”, He paused, “I never really think about dating anyone.” She looked confused, “You don’t?” He shook his head, “I know I’m unnatural. Don’t rub it in.” She took out her phone and started typing something into google, “If it makes you feel any better I don’t know if I’m straight or not.” Justin looked at her for a second, “Really?” She pulled up a website on her phone, “Yep! You ever heard of aromantic?” “A romantic? Like a romantic person?”, Justin raised his eyebrows. “No no no.”, She showed him the website on his phone. “A person that isn’t attracted to anyone romantically, but may still feel sexual attraction?”, He read aloud, “You think that’s me?” Raven nodded, “Maybe.” Justin shook his head, “I don’t know yet. I should give it some more time. Right?” Raven shrugged, “It’s up to you, my dude. I don’t know either so it’s cool. I’ll let you know as soon as I know.”, She stood up and held out her hand. “I’ll tell you once I know too.”, Justin said as he grabbed her hand and was pulled off the ground.

He went into eighth grade hoping to finally have a crush on someone. Raven and him even tried to date each other for a few days, but he didn’t feel any joy from being in a relationship or doing relationship things. They didn’t tell anyone about it and decided to forget about it and say they hadn’t dated before. He had started getting to school late, because he wouldn’t wake up on time. However one day he got to school 30 minutes early. Smith was going to be taking him to school, when he went to work. This meant Justin couldn’t be late. However he was late one day. Willows sixth birthday. His dad had rushed out early and his mother wasn’t told. So Justin was woken up by Willow’s tongue covering his face with saliva. He got up, pulled on his hoodie and sweats as fast as he could, grabbed his backpack and a granola bar, gave Willow a treat, and headed out. He was walking to school after first period ended.
He got to his second period as it was ending and had to go to his first period to get the work he missed. Raven laughed for five minutes when she saw the mess that was Justin. His hair was knotted and messy. He had bags under his eyes and his socks didn’t match. Justin was far too tired to run around school, so at lunch Raven fixed his hair and let him sleep on her legs. Everyone who walked by asked if they were dating and everytime Raven said “Just friends.”

Soon enough Justin was turning fourteen. He wasn’t excited about it, but Raven was. She had been saving up money for a month to get him this leather jacket he always was telling her about. She worked for her neighbors, til she made forty dollars and she ran to the mall right away. She wrapped it up with a ribbon, a bow, and a card. Soon enough, she was sitting in his room on his new queen sized, purple bed. That was what his parents had gotten him. He took the bow and ribbon off, before opening up the present. When he opened it, his jaw dropped. He threw it to the side and tackled Raven on his bed. “How did you?”, he paused, “How in the hell did you afford that?” Raven laughed, “In ways.” She was looking into his eyes. He had the biggest smile on his face and her heart was skipping beats. She leaned towards him and their mouths met. She kissed and he did the same.
Except this wasn’t just a small kiss. This was the crummy, tongue shoving, confusing makeout session that made Justin realize something. After they both pulled away, Justin and Raven looked at each other. Raven’s face turned red, “I- I’m sorry.” Justin’s eyes were wide, “Was that considered sexual?” Raven looked confused, “Uh, yeah. I guess.” “I wanna do it again.”, Justin grabbed her cheek. She held his arm in place, “What?” Justin’s eyes got wide again, “Wait… You kissed me. Why? I mean I liked it… a lot, but why?” Raven’s face got more red, “I like you. Okay? I like Justin Alduin.” He let go of her face, “Raven?” She got quiet, “Yeah?” He responded, “I think I’m that aro thing.” She responded again, “You like sexual stuff, but not romantic stuff?” He nodded. “I’m straight.”, Raven blurted out. Justin laughed a tiny bit, “When’d you figure that out?” “I never wanna do what we just did with a girl.”, Raven smiled a little bit. Their faces got close, but before their lips could meet again, ELizabeth yelled for Raven, “Your dad’s here, hun!”
Raven stood up before Justin and when she was leaving his room, Justin noticed some things about her body type. She looked different. Her top was bigger, her hips were in more, her waist was more obvious. They took her home and when Justin arrived home he realized that he had feelings for her too, but not for the same reasons.
