Vanessa hacked up a small pile of blood before looking up towards an angry Beatrice. Blue and red lights were shining around them continuously, as they were coming from the several police cars that surrounded them. One police officer came up behind the both of them, taking a peek at the girl before stating the facts.
“General Beatrice, ma’am. The area seems secure and free of no deadly casualties. However, there are four beings on the property, including the one that you are currently standing in front of.”
“Where are the other three?” She couldn’t have asked more seriously.
“Well, one is laying on the ground unconscious, while two are in the back of a squad car. I didn’t know what you wanted us to do with them, but we have them detained.” Beatrice closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
“I will handle the four beings. I’ll meet you at the squad car that has the two kids.” The officer nodded and flew back to the crowded entrance of the park. Beatrice flung her head back to Vanessa, staring at her in disappointment.
“You had one mission, Vanessa. One. Get your ass up and get your hybrid sister. We’re going home,” Beatrice ordered. Wincing greatly, Vanessa stood to her feet and messily scrambled over to Lily. She bent down to Lily’s stomach and coughed up more blood over her. Vanessa slapped Lily in the face, albeit a little weaker than she would have liked. Lily gasped and reached for her bleeding hand, sitting up to bump heads with Vanessa. Vanessa yelled loudly and held her head, feeling more intensified pain.
“Grr… geez… if my hand didn’t have holes in it, I’d punch you for getting in my way…” Lily muttered quietly to herself. The frog girl leaped back onto her feet and stumbled after Vanessa, who was already making her way to the herd of police cars.
“Ah, great, you’re both here. Get in. We’re going home.” Beatrice repeated in the same tone that she expressed earlier on. Vanessa along with Lily filed into the small car, greeted instantly by Bucko and Ramen in the backseat. Taking a second look made Vanessa hop into the passenger seat. Beatrice stayed outside of the car for a few moments, talking to the other police officers and reassuring them that the situation wasn’t as dire as they think is.
Vanessa exhaled and put her elbow on the armrest of the car, staring out of the windshield. Bucko chuckled, leaning back in his chair.
“Looked like you guys kicked some butt,” he said, sliding his eyes shut. Ramen nudged him with her shoulder, feeling a bit annoyed from that comment. Bucko grinned smugly, noticing Ramen’s bump immediately.
“What? At least I got to touch Dag––”
“SHUT UP!” All three girls said in unison. Bucko tensed up, throwing his hands up in his defense and not saying another word.
Soon after, Beatrice entered the car and started it up, taking off into the streets of the early morning city. He placed her forehead on the top of the steering wheel, lifting it up again to see where she was going.
Vanessa peered at the side mirrors of the car, watching the many other police cars peel off as well.
The sun was also rising, as they had mostly fought through the night. Ramen let out a small yawn behind Vanessa, causing a chain reaction of yawners throughout the car.
Yet, Beatrice decided not to talk during the entirety of the car ride, making everyone but Bucko feel anxious for what Beatrice was going to later say.

“Wonderful… My children have arrived back home, safe and sound…” Evan greeted the group as they wandered back in. Beatrice dropped her keys on the counter, letting out a sigh of relief. She quickly gathered herself together and faced everyone.
“Now, you lot already know that I’m pissed at what you guys accomplished tonight—which was nothing. I don’t want any words right now until you and I are fully rested. Your rooms are upstairs, or you can go back into your containment units and rest there. Or, there’s always outside,” Beatrice said in a low tone. “Off with you.”
The hybrids quickly shot themselves upstairs, which led them to a long hallway with six rooms in total. Each door had their names inscribed onto a plaque, indicating which room was theirs. Everyone but Vanessa moseyed onto theirs, who simply stood in front of hers. She was about to open her door until she heard noises from within. Pressing her ear to the door revealed that there was a slight breezy noise, almost like…
Almost like something was breathing inside.
She began to turn the doorknob until a small voice emitted from the stairs.
“Wrong room, my child.” Vanessa jumped at his voice, practically to the point of falling onto the floor. They stared at each other for a few seconds before the assistant spoke.
“Oh dear… I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m sorry. You’ll find out what’s in that room eventually, but that’ll be in due time.” Evan sighed, tiptoeing back downstairs. Vanessa shook a little bit, quickly scurrying to her actual room.
Something was off about the upstairs portion of this lab, but Vanessa couldn’t worry about it now.
They were soon going to get the yelling of their lifetime.
