Sapporo was home to famous activities throughout all seasons. During spring, parks were open for festivals, inviting people to watch the beauty of the nature as flower buds sprout on trees that survived the harsh winter.
The horizon was filled with a sea of white and pink. Plum blossoms stood up on a perfect line, spreading its beauty over an endless straight path. Plum blossom petals rained down while a goddess walked on a pink floral sea.
”And…cut!”, the director - Ginzo Kusakabe shouted with a loud strike coming from the rolled up paper he was holding.
”Good work!”, the assistants ran to the actress and cleared her from the petals that had fell on her. She walked to the director while her makeup was being reapplied.
”How did I do, director.”, the actress asked.
”You did great Mayuka-chan. It’s just that… I think it’s lacking. Not you… but the script.”, the director voiced his concern honestly while he turned around to look for someone. “Sashihara! Come over.”
”Yes, Kusakabe-san?”, a boyish female moved forward. She’s Ruka Sashihara, the head scriptwriter.
”Sashihara, I want a change in the script. This looks too boring.”, the director said while he handed her the script he was holding.
”Kusakabe-san, I don’t think we have enough time to come up with a new script.”, the scriptwriter said while she read over the script, curious what went wrong.
”Then get a guy…”, the Director said. Ruka blushed, thinking what the director meant by it. She was interested with someone but there’s no way she’d confess because the director said so.
”A guy?”, Ruka asked for confirmation.
”Yes. I think it’s better if we pair up Mayuka-san with a guy.”, Ruka sighed when she understood what the director said. She looked over to the guy she was interested with. She hoped he didn’t misunderstand her reaction.
”Don’t you think it’s too lonely for a girl to be alone at this kind of scene? Pairing her up with a guy will make everything a hundred percent more romantic.”, the director continued explaining.
”But Kusakabe-san. We haven’t hired any actor. It’s going to take time to find one”, Ruka said.
”We don’t need to find one. There are people here who did nothing but watch. They can be more useful than acting like a huge pole”, the director said. Both him and the scriptwriter looked over at Eiji and Sakuraba, the only ones who’s doing nothing at the set.
Eiji could hear them because they were talking with raised voice. A chill ran over his spine when he noticed the director’s intention. He looked at Minami who was busy sipping on a strawberry milkshake, looking clueless.
”Sakuraba-san, go to the director and ask them if you can help with something”, Eiji said. He felt apologetic he had to sacrifice the rookie but it was needed for his endangered dignity to stay alive.
”M’kay Takahashi-san.”, the small guy hurriedly walked to the director like a small puppy fetching his toys. Eiji couldn’t hear what they were talking anymore. He only noticed Minami coming back to him as clueless as before.
”Takahashi-san, the director said he want you there”, Eiji’s jaw dropped. His plan failed and came right back at him instead. Was it bad luck or karma? Either way, Eiji had no choice but to ask the director.
”Kuwabara-san, am I needed for something?”, Eiji asked even though he knew what it was about.
”Takahashi-san, do you mind acting with Mayuka-san? You don’t have to do anything. Instead of standing at the back of the camera, you will only have to stand in front.”, the director said while his hand gestured the make up artists to start grooming him.
