Cold wind blew with the loud rustling of green overgrown grasses. Butterflies danced harmoniously in the air, flapping their vivid colored wings. Countless petals poured down in repeat, as if to make everything grand, romantic and special.
”Eiji-sannnn~”, Nobu yelled while he ran in slow motion. His eyes were glittering with passion and longing.
”Nobu-kyunnn~” Eiji did the same. The two who were apart were closing the distance between them with their slow, dumb looking running. When they finally reached each other, Eiji fell on his back while Nobu catched him in a tango dance-like position.
”Nobu-kun~”, Eiji sweetly whispered while he closed his eyes and his lips pointing up to Nobu.
”Eiii-san~” Nobu moved his head closer, their lips were soon to collide…
”….san? Eiji-san!”, Eiji woke up abruptly. His eyes opened to see Nobu calling up to him. He just had a dream...a nightmare precisely. A dream so vivid he thought it was real. He was at daze while his mind processed what just happened in his slumber. He didn’t have that kind of thought so for such a dream to appear, Eiji was seriously confused. Was it because of that night that he was getting nightmare? Or was it because of their fated reunion? Eiji couldn’t figure it out.
”Eiji-san we’re getting off the plane”, Nobu said out of worry. The passengers had already started leaving and there were only few of them left inside the cabin.
”Ahh.. yeah. Thanks for waking me up”, Eiji replied while he stood up to get his things kept on the overhead compartment.
”Is something wrong Eiji-san? You don’t look good.”, Nobu said while he assisted Eiji with his things. The older man wasn’t very responsive and he looked like to be in deep thought.
Nobu didn’t say anything anymore when a reply didn’t come. Perhaps it was something Eiji didn’t want to tell. Nobu worried that if he ask something more, he would only be met with harsh words.
Eiji looked lifeless, he walked with no reaction. His movement was so uniform that he looked like a robot. Getting off the plane, the two walked down the staircase. Suddenly, Eiji missed a step and fell out of balance. His body started lean down to a quick fall.
”Eiji-san!”, Nobu, whose attention was solely at Eiji, noticed the danger and his hands quickly embraced the older man’s waist from the back, preventing him from the eventual fall.
Eij’s face turned crimson red while he was reminded of the dream, right when Nobu was holding him by the waist.
”Are you alright Eiji-san?”, Nobu asked. The older man who was still being held turned around. His blushing face was obvious even to Nobu. Seeing the man he like blush made the younger man blush himself two.
”Excuse me… We need to get off the ramp too, so can you guys move and get a room?”, someone from behind said. Nobu withdrew his hands in an instant and resorted into a fake cough. Eiji started to run on his own, embarrassed with how things turned out.
”Eiji-san wait for me!!”, Nobu ran after Eiji. After a short while, the young cinematographer caught up to the elder salaryman.
”Eiji-san, why are you running away?”, Nobu asked while he held Eiji’s hand, preventing him from getting away again.
”Umm.. nothing, it was embarrassing so…”, Eiji replied.
”Eiji-san, were you embarrassed because you fell… or something else? Eiji-san… What I’m thinking about… it’s not a misunderstanding, right?”, Nobu didn’t want things to be like this. He wanted things to be slow, smooth and steady. But Eiji was showing signs and Nobu felt it. Eiji was aware of him, and that he looked at him with more interest than before.
However, Eiji was a person with deep scar. What he felt was momentary and it wasn’t something he felt for real, something that was a result from a stupid dream.
”Eiji-san, if you don’t say something… I’m going to kiss you.”, Nobu said with eyes burning in resolve.
Eiji sighed and turned around to face Nobu. His face that was akin to a ripened tomato was gone. His face wore seriousness. It wasn’t pleasing and it gave off a vibe that made Nobu nervous.
”Eiji…san?”, Nobu asked.
”Nobu-kun… I told you that night already. Please, don’t shake things up like this again.”, Eiji freed himself from Nobu’s grasp and left.
Nobu couldn’t do anything else. He shouldn’t have said anything. He knew it was wrong for him to assume. But a ray of hope had tempted him. His desire to be with Eiji had blurred him.
”Damn, it hurts.” Nobu muttered while a single drop of tear rolled over his face. Loneliness filled his heart while he blamed himself for being stupid. He was stupid enough in the past to ruin everything that was right. Now, he was stupid enough to never make everything right.
