Down in the Labs
It had been a few weeks since the agents had tried to split them apart. Little did they know, they hadn’t just pissed him off, but sent his scientist girlfriend into a raging fit. Hence why his presence was needed in his main science lab complex that laid just below his offices.
His employees nodded respectfully at his approach and pointed in the direction he needed before returning to work. When he reached the small room, separated by a door, some concrete walls, and glass, he saw her with a dropper and vial in hand.
Opening the door, he mumbled, “what the hell?” His mumble must have not been very quiet since she stiffened and a blush coated her cheeks. “What are you doing?” Speaking louder, he approached only to receive no response.
She continued her work. Mixing three different vials of a greenish, slimy texture.
“Please answer me.” He stopped her by placing his hands over hers and guided her away from her work. Then, he lifted the goggles from her face and rested them on her head.
“I’m mad.” He raised an eyebrow and she poutedly continued, “they made me yell at you which is a lame excuse because if I had just kept my cool… but, no can’t do that, can I? I just have to overthink everything.”
“Alright, alright. I thought we were passed this. I don’t want you stressing about… this.” He gestured to the vials before he wrapped his arms around her waist.
“I – we are passed this. I just needed to get it out some way.”
“And what exactly is the result here?”
“Poisons… I think. I just kind of mixed things together.” She half-heartedly picked up the nearby clipboard before letting it slip through her fingers and smack against the table. It had scribbles of different molecules, some scratched out and others highlighted.
He chuckled kissing her exposed nape before he stepped back and noticed the name tags on the glass. The names the agents had given her.
“I’ll make sure not to get on your bad side then.” He nodded to the vials and her embarrassment flared again. “Why don’t you put those away and focus on the tasks out there? You enjoy your work out there. And when you finish, hopefully by the end of the week-“
“You know I will.”
“-we all can take a little break. A vacation for us and all your coworkers. I’ll take you wherever you want to go.”
She hummed, drumming her fingers against her chin. “Somewhere cold.”
“Cold?” He did his best not to show his displeasure.
“Yeah,” she made it sound like her choice was one, sane, and two, completely rational. “That way we have to snuggle to keep warm.”
