"Paige just download Tinder." Jessica suggested closing Lola's cage tightly. She walked over and sat next to her adopted adult niece. The room smelled lightly of incense. Paige squinted her eyes with judgement. "Tinder." She scoffed. "That's for sluts and one night stands." Paige added, shaking her head. Jessica laughed. "Well maybe a one night stand is what you need?" She told Paige.
Paige rose her eyebrow and gave her a look that her biological aunt, Elizabeth was notorious for. "Well at least give it a try. You might be able to move on or at least make a friend on there." Jessica continued with her attempt to persuade her niece to do something other than sulk and be monotonous, like she had been for the past few days. Paige finally gave in to Jessica's suggestion.
Paige leaned over towards her bedside table and grabbed her smart phone. She keyed in the pass code and navigated herself to the app store. She typed in "Tinder" and clicked the download button. Paige took a deep breath in. Lola had begun gnawing on her cage. "There." Paige sighed plopping her phone down onto the comforter beneath her. She made her way over to Lola's cage, unhinging the door.
Lola slowly bounced out of the cage sniffing her surroundings. Paige returned to sitting down on the bed. "Watch me end up on like... I don't know... the news, for being kidnapped or something. Just watch." She joked kicking her feet into a comfortable position. Paige picked up her phone to see the installations progress. It was near completion. She watched the unfinished digital circle become whole and turn into an "Open" button.
"What?" Jessica asked loudly, yanking her head phone out of her left ear. Paige shook her head. "Never mind." She answered softly focusing on her phone. Jessica shrugged and placed the earplug back into her ear and continued watching her show. Once Tinder had opened Paige observed everything about it. She created her account, using her Facebook.
Paige pressed next and entered her interest at the apps request. The screen turned white for a brief second and then a picture of a man appeared. He was the stereotypical "fuck-boy". That type was never appealing to Paige. In fact she despised any type of person like that, male or female. Those type of people didn't interest her. She strongly disliked people who often fooled around. Paige didn't care that she was judging a book by it's cover.
Paige clicked the "x" and moved forward. Jessica clicked the button on the side of her chair and sat down next to Paige. Paige swiped no on guy after guy after guy. Then she saw one individual that caught her eye a bit, but she wasn't too sure. "You can send messages you know." Jessica told her pointing at the message button in the middle of the screen. "Yeah and they'll reply with 'send nudes'." Paige joked getting up from the bed and leaving the room.
Paige turned around the corner and kept going till she reached the kitchen. She hopped up onto the counter where she had accidentally left a cup of sweet iced tea earlier. It was a little melted down but not too bad. She lifted it too her lips and took a drink. Paige still remained on the profile of the same guy she was on when she left the room. She set the cup down and began to inspect the account.
The guy seemed real enough. Paige was quite the skeptic when it came to her safety. She was known in the family for having quite the case of paranoia. A text came in from her biological mom, but she ignored it. Paige didn't hate her mother but she knew the text was probably something that could be looked at later on.
The account owners name was Micah. He had red hair and looked like a total jerk in Paige's eyes. It said he was in the Navy. She decided it would be interesting to try to message him though. Get a taste of what Tinder users were like. She swiped on him and opened messages. Paige hadn't a clue what to text. She wasn't much of a flirt but she typed in "Hai uwu" to be cute.
Paige hopped off of the counter and took her glass of tea in her hand. Taking a sip she headed back to her room. The door was now closed. Jessica was on the phone and she motioned for Paige to go away with her finger. Paige rolled her eyes and spun to walk the opposite direction.
