So you’re probably wondering, what is autism? I believe autism is a genetic neurological disorder that usually starts before age three. It causes delays in a person’s brain when they grow up.
The problems in Lee’s case are talking and responding to surroundings.
When someone with autism tries to talk it seems the brain signals do not connect with the mouth for talking... it’s like the telephone line between your brain doesn’t connect right to your mouth. So even though they can still think words they can’t always say them.
Once my Mom covered up a waffle laced with medicine and gave it to Lee. Lee didn’t touch it, so when my dad saw it he ate it.
Later Mom said, “Oh good, Lee ate his waffle.”
Then Dad said, “No he didn’t, but I did.”
So Mom asked, “So how do you feel?”
“Oh, I feel fine, pretty mellow actually”, my dad replied. Then Mom said, “There’s a reason for that.” Dad was very relaxed the rest of the day.
