Tabby locks the cottage up and pulls out her phone. She texts AJ she has to go on an unexpected trip and will be back in a few days and that she will be turning off her phone. She looks at Artic and smiles as she puts her phone in her pocket. “Well I think we should be on our way.” She dissolves her ears and puts the hood of her cloak up.
“You are as fearless as both of your parents.” Artic stands behind Tabby.
She takes a key out of her backpack and uses it on the door lock. When she opens the door the inside of the house is gone. When they walk out the other side they are on the outskirts of a giant city. Noises can be heard for miles and the lights are bright but the outskirts just surrounding the city are barren. A desert oasis full of the best and worst people you could ever meet. The lone door stands on top of a hill next to the only tree and only patch of green for miles. Tabby shuts the door and hides the key away again.
“The key mother left for me has finally been used.” Tabby smiles at Artic. 'It was easier than I thought. It was literally just opening a door. She made it seem so hard to do... mother...'
Artic growls lightly. “Keep your head down Tabby someone is coming.” Artic stands in front of Tabby blocking her from view.
“Why hello there stranger.” A scratchy voice sounds from the other side of Artic. “what that ya got behind ya?”
Artic stiffens up and growls “My niece and I'd like it if you wouldn't pay any attention to her. This is her first time here.”
“That's fine with me stranger I was actually just needin the door to go home.” The man peaks around Artic and smiles at Tabby. “Sorry if I scared ya lil miss. Be careful there are plenty of bad people in this city.
“Um Th..Thank you.” Tabby clings onto Artic playing the scared little girl.
Artic and Tabby move out of the way and the man uses his own key and waves good bye as he exits through the door. “Well that was a good first encounter.” Tabby stands up and walks around Artic. “Come on Uncle lets go.” Tabby heads off before Artic can reply.
Artic follows her closely “Tabby remember head down and only ask for the stuff you need you don't tell them anything. Some dealers here are good people but usually the bad ones have the best goods.”
Tabby nods her head. “I understand.” 'This is so exciting my heart is racing. This is technically not my first visit but Uncle doesn't know that mother and father use to bring me here shopping. It was dangerous back then to but everyone was so nice because of my parents. I hope some of those people are still here.' Tabby lightly tugs on Artics sleeve and points to a small cafe in an alley way. “I'm hungry can we go there and get something to eat?”
Artic nods”Sounds like a great idea, sweets will give us some energy as well.”
Tabby walks in and takes a deep breath. 'Smells just like when I was a kid. The sweet scent of freshly baked cakes and sweets is wonderful. The shop looks so out of place perfect and frilly while outside is grungy, but that was one of my mothers favorite reasons to come here.' “ Lets go up to the counter and order then grab a fake window seat.” Tabby smiles up at Artic.
“Lead the way little girl.” Artic grins as Tabby sticks her tongue out and walks up to the counter.
A young teenage girl greets them with a smile. “Welcome to Fairy Tale Bakery may I take your order?”
“Yes I would like a triple Decker double chocolate cake slice with whip cream and strawberries shaped like hearts on top and to drink I would like a chocolate strawberry milkshake with extra whip cream on top and chocolate shavings. Please.” Tabby looks at Artic “And what will you have Uncle?
“Ill have a coffee with lots of sugar and french vanilla cream and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream over an apple turnover if you don't mind.” Artic smiled looking at Tabby. “I'm a simple man who loves Vanilla.”
“Yea because Aunt Abigail got you to try it once Mr always black coffee and coffee cake.” Tabby smiles as Artic laughs a bit.
“Your order will be $42. 50 please.” The girl smiles.
“Wow super cheap, nice.” Artic pays and gets the receipt.
“Is Fairy Tale 13 open?” Tabby looks at the girl.
“Why yes Fairy Tale 13 is open. Someone will bring your treat to you when it is fixed.” The young girl turns around and marks where they are seated for their bill.
Tabby walks off Artic following her. “Fairy Tale 13?”
“Yes it is one of my favorites. The romantic scenery is alil dark but that's why I like it.” Tabby happily walks up the stairs and into the room labeled 13. Inside the room sits a beautiful black cast iron table with four chairs around it. The walls have a virtual image making it seem like you are in a graveyard full of blooming flowers. A soft melody both sad yet happy plays making you think of love lost and love gained.
“Wow this is quite something.” Artic takes a seat looking around.
“Yes. I loved it as a child.” Tabby removes her hood. “Mother and Father used a virtual tool and carved their name on the tree once, mine was in it to. It was nice.” 'If only she were still at this place then I could see it again.'
