CHAPTER 4 IMMORALLY UNLEASHED
Instantly reacting like a conductor to the electrifying stroke of the moment, the Velatum squadron snapped their fingers sending up a paranormal pulse up their straight signs, posturing boldness as an answer to dangers call.
“Hah! Like we don’t use the darkness as apart of our business tactic already!” Juarez the Velatum guard reacted, his eyes glowing their ghoulish colors under seunna’s influence.
“Shall we begin then?!” Delpina said, lifting her hand in the air snapping, a wave of sparks spread across the atmosphere they occupied.
“Velatum act accordingly and move out” she ordered
“Ma’am!” the team said together splitting in opposite directions.
The two leading women started their way towards their aim, synchronizing their walks unintentionally. The queens eyes flashed as her concentration glowed more intensely than her enhanced sight. With heels riding the rolls of crust that collided with them, showing her dominance over tension radiating from her tranquil focus. Joanne followed not short behind, tagging beside Delphina like a strap on her side. Into the unknown they casually walked.
BY THE SKINNED TEETH OF THEIR DESOLATE TRIES
Both youth’s pressed their backs against the numbness of crippling grit. Having each to their own but coming to a compromise when their friendship blossomed into life where light expired. In symbiosis relation the pair aspirated their degrading worrisome with warmth in their own arms, isolation was barred between cursed beings and in that sense they stroked fortune. But what lengths would test the two? How far does their connection reach? In a matter of seconds it dawned on them, treading in dusk.
“HAH!” Kanen released his grip and stroke down powerfully onto the chains sealing the door to the rationem chamber, lights flickered on and off in a matter of seconds. As he was fueled by sheer ambition, the environment became extraneous to him not noticing the trembles that shook below. Seunna’s paranormal activity set in exerting force upon it’s counteracted impure form, the Scathon shook as it glowed, sparking it’s metal creating scratching noises in the process. The soundwaves irritated the boy’s senses as he let go, to watch the door loosen itself. The light fixture chose it’s setting to near pitch black settling unease within the situation. Their glowing seunna imbued eyes improving sight to the shady backdrop.
“Aliikai!” Kanen yelled for her name
“Can you see?!” He asked
“Your eyes, they glow too, am I right?” he asked
Aliikai stood with her back faced to her native friend, unable to speak hiding an implicit emotion underneath. Her breathing heard heavily in liveliness but short in perturbation. Eye
Set in stop motion, switching frames in a terrifying revelation averting her gaze towards the sinner, that returned to the look.
“Allikai!?” Kanen called once more
“D-Daughter!?” she whispered.
“Did it not say daughter!?” she asked, shivering at the thought when she spoke
“N-No, i-impossible” she reassured herself to soothe the fear of her thoughts.
“Aliikai!? W-What is the matter?” Kanen asked before hearing the chains rattle before him, they shook more intensely with each passing second.
“I need you to help me release these chains befor-”
“It is too late? No need to worry for me, it just might be” Aliikai responded.
“What is left for me is nothing” she added.
“W-What are you saying?! We have established this already have we not? Do you not trust me?” Kanen asked.
“I do! I do! B-But” she replied.
“But what!? It is now or never!” Kanen shouted mildly, letting go of his Scathon to grab her hand quite forcefully.
She gasped
“K-Kanen! I-” before she could utter another word, the sinner roared and charged forth at a terribly startling speed, terrorizing the winds with its extreme rapidity. Kanen let go of Aliikai, grabbing his Scathon as a reaction to withdraw it to defend himself. It leaped into the air, with decayed claws diving in headfirst for a tackle.
“KANEN!” It spout his name with perfect coherence, it’s voice nasally and groggy. Kanen clashed it’s violent slashes with his weapon as it leaned into shred his face with it’s sharpening hands. He held it back, as it pushed him to the ground closing in as Kanen fought exerting his full strength to keep from being fatally torn by his foe. He sweat waterfalls, feeling it’s chilling hiss waver his spine. He looked the sinful seunna directly in its mutilated face , turning away from it’s rotten breath that felt similar to acidic gasses vaporizing the young native’s skin. As he pushed again it’s sturdy force, he could feel his strength weakening with each tweak of his muscle unwilling to let loose of his self reliant pride.
“A-Aliikai!” he called out puffing in between his pushing.
“Take hold of the chains, it should be able to weaken the lock enabling it to snap” he said grunting while pushing against the sinner as it moved in farther.
“I-I-” she said hesitatingly
“I am unsure” she told him
“You will never know the truth about your father, i-if we fail to open rationem” Kanen informed her.
“Do you not want to know what the Imperium have taken from you?” he asked.
Aliikai shook her head
“N-No, maybe it is not too late” she said shaking her head,
“You are right, Kanen, I- I shall find out myself” she said
“Yes” Aliikai ran running towards the shining chains, taking hold of them firmly with her hands. Then with a powerful yank, she pulled with all her the inner strength in her fragile body. Now onto the brink of total breakage, the door creaked open but not entirely. Heavy breathing was emitted from the opposite side, grotesque arms shot out of the door followed by tearful yells and screams altered by disturbingly belching noises. Ranging from all shapes and sizes, the scale was a diverse mixture of age groups showing zero remorse to any standard. Their voices inaudible but striking a cord in young Kanen’s fractured heart.
“Kanen! I cannot hold on for much longer” Aliikai told him
“I-I am slipping” she told him as her grip on the chain slid in beneath her fingers.
Kanen closed his eyes and let exhaled deeply
“Call to the sinners Aliikai, create a sudden diversion” he asked her.
“But-” Aliikai said
“It is not human like us, it cannot feel, it is long gone” he informed her
“So do it now! For the sake of us both!” he demanded her out of overflowing pensive passion
She pulled her head back , swaying to his command out of uneasiness
“F-FATHER!” She said at the top of her lungs, scratching a horse tone into her otherwise soft voice.
The sinner alarmed turned it’s head to Aliikai’s desperate call, diminishing it’s iron attachment to Kanen’s scathon.
With a twisting spin motion, Kanen quickly broke free of his attachment to its superiority over him and stood his reach back to shove the Scathons edge into the right of it’s facing side, tearing through flesh like paper. It squealed in pain, giving an opening to revert back to his dominant control over the chains, Kanen grabbed on.
“R-Ready!?” he asked Aliikai, who then looked back at him nodding.
“Y-Yes, let us break them free for good” she told him.
“Heh, that’s the spirit, just one….final….push” he said grunting
“NOW!”
The two combined their efforts into one successful strive, a cooperative heave.
Kanen’s eyes widened when witnessing the mere sight of a swollen foot step out from the opened crack.
“Sge! Nigadv!” (Come Everyone) he shouted in his native tongue.
Ale ayv Ahani! (I am here)”
Before finally releasing itself, skeletal natives barged the door open. Their malnourished bodies tripping over their bodily dead skin, estimate rounded to hundreds by the thousands skirmishing outside of their resting den. Their cries heard for miles. Kanen stepped aside to avoid accidental harm from the storming hordes . Aliikai barely missing the mark had done so as well, releasing the chain to let the rushing breeze push her aside. Her hair left unconfined to the great winds that blew. Metal tubes filled to the brim with large amounts of seunna were seen embedded into their bodies flying with them, as they trampled over the sinner that fell victim to their incoming path. Children stayed packed in between adults and the elderly, even infants shared freedom some passing in the hyperactivity of opportunity. Their wild nature was not to be trifled with but puzzled young Kanen as he and Aliikai watched, what he had observed was uncommon.
KANEN (OLDER): So my brethren ran, on and on, running faster than my adolescent mind could process. To think that this, this was all possible thanks to my efforts with Aliikai by my side. You would believe that this is a satisfying thought for me, standing witness to the freedom of my agonizing people a feat I wished to accomplish for half a decade. It had finally been happening but something, how do I say it felt off. A vibe that discouraged me rather than fulfill my hollow being. It felt bittersweet and all I could think about was thoroughly washing out the taste I expected to be refreshing, revitalizing even. Was it selfish to feel this way? Arrogant of me to even speak of myself after risking all I could to what lastly remained of my people? The family bonded with me through blood, and it only. Was this what they wanted? Or what I wanted?
Kanen stood lost in a gaze as the natives crossed his perspective. He remained unnoticed, analyzing their conditions. Were they so deprived of light, that their root shriveled in the depths of turmoil? Their ligaments ashy, sorely lacking that one element that made them human. Or were they even in that realm to begin with? The possibilities flooded Kanen’s young mind, as he tried to shrug it off as he heard the natives constant cries of despair. With ground shaking, and darkness still setting in it’s ambiance , Kanen’s eyes glowed as he face Allikai from across him. She returned the stare, with a questionative expression.
“Kanen!” she panted
“W-We did it! But my father , I am still worried he is-”
“I know” Kanen said cutting her short confirming her burdened troubles.
“Aliikai, we have to return to domus together” he told her.
“I am not expected to be here, freedom was firstly only given to me. The Velatum, they will be arriving to come get me. I cannot leave you behind” he added.
“The Velatum?!” Aliikai gasped.
“You know I know of them but, my omma” Aliikai said.
“I left without her consent. She is most likely, worried of me as well”
“If I go with you, I will be leaving her behind and I, well-” Aliikai looked down
“I understand, but may I ask how you arrived in Scathatchen of all places? I know you were seeking your father but, it does not quite completely add up” Kanen asked.
“It is some story, you see the Velatum they want me of their own and so do the Imps. My mother is sided with the Imps unfortunately, just my luck right?” said Aliikai.
“She is not of your average woman, it is hard to put into words outside of my first language” she told him.
“Say no more, I cannot grasp fully of your situation just yet, but I can come to terms with your complicated placement in all of this. I will figure out your way home from here” Kanen told her.
“I- I am not your responsibility Kanen, I will be okay” she told him
“Please do not stress over me” she said smiling at him
“I cannot help myself. It has become a part of me now, to care for others than myself” he responded.
“I will-
“You have done enough for me, what I am meaning to say is, is...are you glad?” she interrupted.
She chuckled under her breath
“Now you know how it feels, hehe” she said.
Kanen shook his head “I am only doing what I feel is right, if your parents are not around to do so at the time somebody has to” he said , flashing a smile at her.
“You have payed no mind to my concern” she told him.
“Hm?” he said.
“Are you ok? Glad maybe?” she said smiling, turning her head to peer into his feelings.
“I am unsure” he answered.
The ground rumbled once more.
“It does not matter now, if we both go to domus we can take care of the itch that troubles us” he said.
“Dome-us?!’ Aliikai asked.
“What is this dome you speak of?” she asked.
“The home of the Velatum” Kanen answered.
“The Velatum are the true saviors of mankind, they will decide what is right for the both of us” Kanen added.
“But when do we get to decide what is best for us?” she asked.
“That as of now is trivial, we have to save ourselves first” Kanen answered, grabbing her arm gently.
“The Velatum will help with that so let us return to Domus” he concluded picking his Scathon up from the ground, waving it to the side to wipe off the blood. He withdrew it into it’s casing.
“A-Alright” she told him
“I am trusting you fully Kanen” she told him, locking her fingers into the spaces between his.
“Hmph, about time I’d say” he grinned.
They both turned heads, to scan the hallway before continuing on. They spotted darkened aura from bodies belonging to that of deceased fallen victims. It formed to a shadowy figure all of a sudden, attaching itself to skin particles ripped from it’s fleshly soul case. They floated , piecing themselves together with pulsing waves radiating off of the negative seunna to form something greater. A twister spun above merging into an unknown anatomy creating a phenomenal structure unlike any the two youths have ever laid their eyes upon. Sounds of seunna hissed normally but this time it shared close resemblance to a rhythmic whistle. A dissonant melody in correlation with a purging ritual of some sort, but even more so antipathetic to the human ear. The threat became too bountiful to even imagine it’s harmful competences.
“A- A sinner!?” Kanen started.
“Could it be?! N-No it cannot be so!?” he said ditching his doubts.
Allikai watched, expressing the same level of terror Kanen had gained.
It’s piercing scream split the air waves like aftershock in quakes left behind by the native stampede.
“SEUNNA!!” It’s voice grew in multitude with seunna spirit’s letting out similar hollering.
“So we are on the run again!?” Aliikai said.
“What a strange way to lose weight” she said trying to lighten the mood.
“I’ll say, hell can eat our dust forevermore” Kanen said grabbing her hand, jetting off with her behind
“It is gigantic!” said Aliikai running, holding Kanen’s hand.
“We are bigger in spirit!” Kanen rebutted.
