The atmosphere fell silent as goodbye was said with no word profession. A few moments earlier there could be heard the cries and mourns that everyone who loved her had gone through. It was unexpected, a storm hitting them in the hardest way possible, it was insane even. How quick could something fall apart, and so easily at that? How quick would it be for them to have no idea of where to go, how to move on, how to simply live?
The heavy silence came to an end and the melody created by the crying human beings could be heard. Soon enough, the skies started crying too in an action that Mio believed they too mourned for her death. The death of the most precious person in his life, the person he would never forget as he grew up. There, at that moment, there was only something that could have held him up. Someone that Mio knew had his back no matter what happened. Only he could make it less painful even if keeping the still lingering pain.
The pain Mio felt at the time was something he hadn't felt again, not in the same degree at least. He still thought about her every now and then, the person still deeply engraved in his heart. One could not forget a mother. The source of all warmth, happiness and love, the one who had certainly cherished him most. Even if young at the time of her death, Mio had understood everything that happened, with all the details. He had been a smart kid after all.
At the time, he had been able to distinguish his father's change in attitude, all his cousin's sudden visit and the empty space left by his mother. Tears were something he hadn't met often since such tragic event. He had become stronger and now futile things couldn't make him cry with ease.
Mio's attitude and manners certainly flourished from his experience, the cheery smiley kid he had once been got itself affected by the turn of events at such a young age. He had grown to be immune to futile things, he didn't care about anything in special and he was a stay-at-home kind of boy. Experiences like death of relatives influence people in different ways and his own made him "colder". His best friend, an outgoing, cheerful and social boy whom everyone loved, was the one always calling him cold all the time. He often called them the "hot n'cold duo" which always made Mio snort loudly at him.
Besides that, Mio was not a complicated boy. He had pretty plain looks (as he himself thought), black hair, maroon eyes, freckled cheeks, pale skin, average weight, average height and average body build. He also had average grades, nor too good nor too bad, leaving no worries for his father.
His dark eyes fluttered open as he once again woke up trembling, obviously he had a nightmare. He had these frequently, each time about different things but equally frightening. However, this once he had no idea what his dream had been about, he just couldn't grasp it with his thoughts. He lifted his phone before pressing the home button to see what time it was. His phone marked around 5 am and so he decided to get up earlier for school. If he was awake might as well make a good breakfast.
