While this has bothered me for a while now, a small group of friends really cemented this for me. It kind of hurts when you don't have many people you're comfortable around, make fun of your main form of communication.

My daughter went though something similar. I suggest she educate people on the right way to communicate as often her friends lacked the skill to actually hold conversations. On the odd occasion when she did call them out for 'making fun of her' they didn't realise they were doing it. Even in my own adult life, often pointing these things out to people surprises them because they simply have no idea what they are saying is offending, rather they think they are being funny with you not at you (If that makes sense).
However, in your case, chin up. Who you are is valid and during your lifetime you will find people who you will truly find supportive.
