Elijah gave the ash pile on the floor a quick glance before he left to go on his daily commute to school. He pulled out his phone and looked at the news. Headlines were going across the entire web about a 'mysterious boy' who had not only harmed citizens but also caused property damage. He scrolled till he saw all the comments. It was an all-out war some were saying self defense and some were saying that it was a criminal act by the boy. Elijah cringed after remembering what had happened last night. He didn't know how to face Alex or Derek but most of all he didn't know how to face Emily. Her name filled him with hatred he could feel the anger pulsing through his body and he knew that if he didn't avoid her he would get into serious trouble. He looked up past his phone to find himself standing in front of the school gates. The trip felt shorter than it usually did.
He walked into his classroom to find that everyone was restless. No one knew who the boy was as in the video his face is blurred to keep his identity. Elijah hoped that no one would know it was him. He sat in his seat and looked out his window. The background noise became more and more silent as he focused on the spot where he first found the monster. Flashbacks of what happened that day filled his mind till suddenly the bell went. He scanned the classroom to see if the three people were there but to his surprise none were. There were three empty seats where Derek, Alex and Emily sat. The teacher marched into the classroom and turned sharply towards the class.
"Alright students I will now take the role" he went through all the names till he reached Elijah's.
"Elijah?"
"Here" Elijah said trying to stay quiet but loud enough to be heard.
"Elijah there is something that we need to talk about after class" Mr. Crossby looked down to the piece of paper in front of him then continued with the role. The classes were long and were on the verge of boring the class to death. This continued for a few more hours till the bell rang. Everyone jumped out of their seats and ran forming a stampede of high school students through the halls. Elijah remained seated until he was approached by Mr. Crossby.
"Elijah during training you had quite the unique power there you know" he said grinning. "I wonder how you got it" His face was closing in on Elijah's till the black mark spread again. His vision went grey and the boy was back in control.
"You think so sir?" The boy asked.
"I am curious what is that power? and you're not Elijah are you?"
"Do you know the saying curiosity killed the cat?" The boy responded.
"Ahh my boy did you know that satisfaction brought it back?" Mr. Crossby said smiling whilst moving away.
"Don't worry I won't tell anyone. I just want to see how this turns out" He said exiting the room while waving his left hand. Elijah's vision went back to normal and the boy looked at him.
"You should be more careful about who you show that power to" He said.
"I can't help it I am unable to control it" Elijah responded. "It was just a warning" The boy said shrugging his shoulders while fading away.
"Always with the flashy exits" Elijah said in an irritated tone.
Elijah walked up the hill to his usual spot and took his rightful place sitting down enjoying the view. Well you know he have enjoyed it but he was rudely interrupted by a few of Emily's fans.
"Hey we know you yelled at Emily... No one yells at Emily!" The all yelled. All the boys split from the centre only to reveal a boy who had quite the bit of muscle on him. Elijah knew what was coming and accepted his fate. They say that if you accept it, it is easier to cope with. Well you know getting beat up is still painful but Elijah picked himself up after they all stopped.
"You better remember this lesson!" Their ring leader said. After that they all dispersed trying not be caught by the teachers.
School was finished school and arrived home covered in bruises and multiple scraps. He took off his shoes then looked down to see the ash pile. After the events during the day he had completely forgotten about it. He walked into another room and returned holding a dust pan brush. He started to pick up the mess until in the pile he noticed something that shined a little. When he picked it up he saw a chrome metallic usb drive. He examined it looking happy at how nice it looked. He shook his head telling himself not to take it yet.
He walked towards his laptop and placed it in. As soon as it was recognized a video pooped up. It had Alex, Derek and Emily in it and all were chained to chairs. They had gags on and had their ankles handcuffed to the legs. Every one of them was struggling violently. Then he heard a female voice in the video.
"You know that all you have to do for me to let them go is come to the coordinates that have been sent to your email" Elijah didn't really want to save them but quickly realised that if Emily wasn't at school then he would get more beatings and that was one thing that he didn't want. He ran his cursor across the screen and opened all his emails. There was one email sent to him without an email addressee. He opened it up and inside were GPS coordinates.
Elijah opened his phone and typed them in only to find that it lead to an abandoned part of the district. It was abandoned during a break out of monsters so no one ever went there. Elijah really didn't want to go through all the trouble just to save three people but he knew the only way to avoid anymore abuse was to get them back.
