I woke up to the sound of my alarm, I didn’t want to get up and start my day but I have to, I am an adult now! So I got up and looked around which there wasn’t anything out of the usual. There weren’t any lurkers or dark shadows. I got dressed, had breakfast and then left for work.
The blue moon café is a nice place where people liked to hang out or to get the famous moon sugar cupcake. The café is decorated with vintage decors and many plants which made it a cozy place to stay at. Usually it gets busy during the weekends but not today since it is a working day so it was nice to have a calm atmosphere with fewer customers to serve but some working days gets really busy same as the weekends. One of my favorite customers came in; she is an old lady who likes to read. I always like to talk to her about books since they are my passion! “Good morning Mrs. Carper” “Good morning to you too dear, may I have the usual today” “sure, tea with milk, two cubes of sugar and moon sugar cupcake” I have noticed that she did not carry a book this time. I went to get her order ready and gave it to her. “Mrs. Carper, why aren’t you reading a book today? You always carry a book whenever you come here.” “I just didn’t feel like it dear and thank you dear!” It was weird but I let it go since sometimes people will always change their mood.
So far nothing bad happened or saw them; it was going great actually until I went to the back room to grab some supplies. There it is, the lurker, I named them this because that’s what they do! He looked very pale but what struck me the most was his eyes, they were bleeding but not blood, it was black liquid. It was dripping heavily on his cheeks to the ground. He was staring at me and I did not know what to do, do I run, do I hide or do I just close my eyes and wish for it to go away? I crouched and hugged my knees really tight, I could feel the liquid dripping next to me. “go away, please go away” I felt him trying to reach my shoulder, the hairs on my arms were now standing because he felt cold, very cold. I did not want to look at him but suddenly it became quiet and there was nothing there when I looked up. I had tears in my eyes and they were threatening to spill. “I just can’t take a break!” I calmed myself and tried to act as if nothing had happened. I left the storage room back to the front.
The time passes by in serving the customers, helping my manager and brewing the coffee which was my favorite part of the day. I become focused on the task and I don’t have to look up where I don’t see them. Someone interrupted my focus; he was a young handsome man. His eyes are beautiful, they are green hazel and it matched with his dark honeyed hair. “The manager said you are making a fresh brewed coffee” “ah, oh, yes I do” “how long is it going to take for you to finish?” “It won’t take long sir” “alright, just call me when it’s done and I would like to take it for take away” “yes, of course. May I have your name sir?” “It’s Zeke” he said it in an annoyed manner. I handed him his order after I have finished and he left without thanking me or saying anything. There is something eerie about him.
