I followed Orca into what he called a market, two shops can’t really be called a market. I guess I’ll take him to the Nichibotsu Bazaar when we get back.
“Can you help me look for something for Tsukiko? I’m not sure what she likes and all.” I sighed before glancing around at the shops for anything that might work.
“Well she recently has wanted to grow her hair long like mine, so maybe some decorative hair ties?” Orca’s face brightened as he ran into the shop named the Alchemy and Oddities. What a strange name. He quickly bounced around the store as I glanced at the shopkeeper who was hiding in the corner reading. On his leg clinging to his pants, was a baby lizard looking thing, having fun swinging up and down as the shopkeeper swung his leg. Well I guess Orca isn’t the only odd one here. Orca still hadn’t found anything so I walked up to the shopkeeper and stared at him. My staring made him look at up at me and he gave me a quite a surprised expression.
“Well well, aren’t you an oddity! You aren’t a dragon are you little lady?” He placed his book down and smiled at me. He seemed nice and all, but he gave me a creepy feeling from him. Similar to those slave traders from Umbra I met all those years ago before Baba got rid of them all.
“No I’m not.” I glanced at Orca as he walked our way and the shopkeeper stood up. He was taller than Riera, which was something because she was taller than most demons I know.
“You’d make a nice part of my collection if I was into collection other species. Such a fortune you would be. Anyway, what are you two here for today?” The tiny lizard at his feet let go of his pant leg and it started to stare at me then at Orca.
“Decorative hair ties.” I followed my arms ready to bargain against this guy like I had to do at Nichibotsu Bazaar.
“Hmmm, oh! I actually happen to have enchanted ones that never break if you’re interested. My partner kept complaining about hers continuously breaking so I made her some, but she didn’t like the designs of a few so I’m selling them.” He went behind a counter and took out a tray of a few ties to display to us. Orca looked at them with excitement while I just stared at them blankly. The shopkeeper glanced at me and then at Orca to see if we found any that were interesting.
“This one is pretty, what do you think Mochi? Would Tsukiko like this?” Orca picked up ones with bows ties that had flower beads dangling from the ends. The flowers were a pale blue and pink and would fit nicely for her.
“They’re alright. Go with those.” I kept my arms folded as Orca smiled even brighter and purchased the bowties from the shopkeeper. I felt something tug on my cape and turned around to see the tiny lizard thing staring up at me. It seemed to smile as it then jumped up onto my head and nested there while I kept my balance.
“Nona, get down from there. Sorry about that, she is just a hatchling and doesn't know any better.” The shopkeeper chuckled as he came around the corner and tried to get Nona off my head but kinda failed as she desperately clung to my hair.
“Well that’s strange, usually dragons don’t get attached to strangers.” Nona finally let go and I fixed my hair.
“Thanks again owner, we will be back soon!” Orca grabbed my hand and smiled brightly at the owner
“Come back again anytime Ryuunosuke and Mochi!” I glared at him as I then turned my head away from him quickly.
“It’s Michiko.” I felt as if my body was falling apart and gripped onto Orca’s hand tightly as I felt the urge to throw up as now it felt like my body was being placed back together, tiny piece at a time. When the feeling stopped I let go of Orca’s hand and placed one of my hands over my mouth. I held back throwing up as I looked around to see we were back at Obcasus. I noticed that we actually ended up close to a camp and smirked as it was ours due to the flags standing around the camp.
“Nice job, we’re back home.” Orca smiled over at me but I frowned at him. “Now shut up and let me do the talking.”
I walked towards the camp and Orca followed right behind me. The tribe seemed nerve wrecked by my disappearance and I questioned why as I stated the old man sent me to go collect stuff and said he told them. Of course it was a lie but it convinced them all and got slightly annoyed by the chief not telling them things again. I told them to forgive the old man for his mistake and just brush it aside before he gets back.
