It was bless seeing them burn knowing she might stop being so nice to me. I swear I felt like the devil watching them burn I smiled. I knew she saw me burn them cause when she came outside she was in tears. I felt bad but I knew I had to do it. After that I got suspended for a week but my step parents didn’t care so I was home alone once again. I just wanted her to go away so I wouldn’t hurt her anymore. I hated the idea of hurting her but you have to look at it from my perspective…” “It sounds like you didn’t care for her the way you’re describing it” Clayton replied. “That’s not it, I just didn’t wanna hurt her by mistake” Chase said in a voice that almost seemed like he was gonna cry but he held it in. “Ah so by not hurting her in the future you tried to hurt her in the present while things were still able to be changed?” Clayton asked as if he had understood what Chase was doing. “Exactly.” “So moving on, what happened between you two during the summer? Was it basically the same as the classroom?” Clayton asked like he already knew what was goanna be said. “No it was much more different than the classroom” Chase replied. “Then tell us about it” Clayton demanded. Chase went back to his memories to relay everything that happened. The first day of summer he just slept knowing that he needed it because going to school exhausted all of his imagination and energy. He left all of his report cards on the table even though he knew no one was gonna look at them and congratulate him for a job well done. He had made straight A’s in all of his classes, all of his teachers suggested that he take honors classes. But he refused he didn’t want to draw any attention to himself. He lay all day in a red velvet, king sized bed that felt like a really large cloud, it was soft and comfy, it was something he could call his own and no one could take that from him. The next day he went to the kitchen and made himself some buttermilk pancakes that were always perfectly golden with whipped cream and a strawberry on top with syrup. He also made perfect scrambled eggs with melted cheese on the top just the way he liked it. He had to have the final touches on his perfect breakfast he cooked some turkey bacon that didn’t have a single ruffle in it. He also poured a glass of apple juice. This was his breakfast every day, always perfect and always lonely. He ate like a starving dog even though the cabinets were always filled to the brim with food every month. He didn’t have to go grocery-shopping because they were always delivered to the house like a never-ending rainstorm. He finished his food and washed his metal red plate. He started drinking his apple juice. There was a knock at the door, chase almost choked on the apple juice thinking who could be at the door at this time in the morning. He went to open the door in hopes that it would just be the mailman or woman. He peeked out the peephole and saw a girl, her straw hat was covering her entire face. The girl was wearing a turquoise two strap maxi dress and some black flat top shoes with one strap. He opened the door like a person from New York peeking out the crack of the door just in case of danger. “Hello” he greeted. The girl looked up and instantly recognized the 5’7” boy, half White and half European, he had an average plus athletic body type, black wavy hair, and nice golden eyes.
