YUKI’S REALITY
“Yuki?” A voice emerged, blurred out but audible. A voice I knew.
My attention turned from the ceiling to the direction of the resonance, only to witness Perseus by my side. He was holding my body to his, sharing his warmth and comfort the only way he knew how. Long black locks sprawled out onto the bed sheets, even intertwining with my golden ones. His blood-red eyes staring longingly into mine, filled with concern.
“Atua…” I gently smiled, nudging my body into his as I was filled with joy that he was by my side. Was he here all this time?...
“Yes…” He grasped hold of my right hand with him, furrowing his eyebrows in distress. “I’m right here.” His voice was a whisper to me, and I rest my head against him. Although the windows were open; wind brushing the curtains against each other, his body was enough of a warmth provider to envelop me. “Is your arm under any strain?”
I glanced at my arm, a bruise spiralling like a coil down the length of my forearm. It looked horrible, a blackish purple, an ugly brown and a discomforting black. I realised that it had spread further across my skin than it had when I became tainted by it. “... It doesn’t hurt, I’m ok.” I attempted to reassure him, smiling.
Perseus sympathetically frowned at me, he knew I wasn’t ‘OK’. It was clear in his eyes. But even so, he let it go, slowing sitting up with me in his arms. Our intertwined fingers pulling from each other.
“Are you hungry?” He propped up my body to sit up. “I have food prepared, we can eat together.”
Usually, we’d never eat together. Perseus can be really stubborn and distant sometimes. Ever since we’ve met he’s always eaten on his own and would quickly finish if I tried to join in. I don’t remember what happened last night… but perhaps it changed a part of him. It was sudden, but I was glad and taken by surprise at his offer.
“We can eat together?” I almost stammered on my words, still unable to believe him.
“I mean… we don’t have to eat together. I’m fine eating on my own.” There it was. The Perseus only I knew. But I quickly grabbed onto the offer before he pulled it away. “No! I want to eat with you… together.” I smiled up at him as my heart fluttered. “You can’t always eat on your own, company is always fun to have.” At least… I assumed it was fun to have. Everyone was different right?
“... I suppose.” He looked away, a faint blush heated his cheeks. I used the strength I had to push myself off the bed, my feet dangling off the side of it. Below me was clean wooden floorboards, as if they had just been put in. Perseus, of course, aided me. Remaining close to my side as we both walked out of my room, and into the corridor with several other doors down each way. To the right lead to the stairs, which would take us to the kitchen. The aroma of beef stew filled my nose, and I exhaled deeply. His beef stew was my favourite so far.
